Lyme Disease & Tick-borne Illnesses
Lyme disease, also known as Lyme borreliosis, is a vector-borne disease caused by the Borrelia bacterium which is spread by ticks. Lyme Disease is diagnosed by positive blood and/or urine tests with/or soley by a collection of symptoms recognized by a Lyme literate medical doctor.
The saliva of a tick contains more than one type of bacteria but may transmit several types of bacteria, parasites, and even viruses like Bartonella, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, Babesia, Rickettsia, etc., causing what we call co-infections.

PANS & PANDAS
PANS ("Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome") is a clinically defined disorder characterized by the sudden onset of obsessive-compulsive symptoms and/or severe eating restriction.
PANDAS (“Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections”) is a subset of PANS. Common symptoms are, but limited to, abrupt “overnight” OCD or dramatic, disabling tics; a relapsing-remitting (brief symptom improvement and then appearance of acute symptoms); early onset at a young age; presence of neurologic abnormalities; and association between symptom onset and Group A strep (GAS) infection.

A medical letter is only available for patients currently under Dr. Mass' care and based on medical information evaluated and documented by Dr. Mass in patient appointments. Current patients have had a recent visit with us in the last 30 days may request medical letters . There is a fee for this service.
